Badge established on 18 March 1921 by General Tadeusz Rozwadowski, commander of the “East” Army. The badge was awarded for defending Lviv and fighting for the Eastern Borderlands in the period from November 1918 to 1921. It was awarded personally by General Rozwadowski together with a certificate in the form of a diploma containing his signature. The badge was discontinued in 1928 with the death of General Tadeusz Rozwadowski – he was the only person entitled to award it. The badge has the shape of a cross, in the arms of the cross there are crowned eagles with their wings spread out and rays between them. In the central part, a round medallion with the coat of arms of the city of Lviv (city gate with an open door and a lion resting on two back legs in the middle), along the edge of the medallion there is an inscription: “OBROŃCOM KRESÓW WSCHODNICH 1919” [TO THE DEFENDERS OF THE EASTERN BORDERLANDS OF 1919]”.
